Goshen Health System Awards

A Tradition of Excellence

Our most recent recognition as a premier workplace for job satisfaction is not the only reason Goshen Health System is a great place to work and build a career. It follows a long tradition of excellence that spans across a wide array of areas - all contributing to patients receiving the best quality of care. Here’s why our Colleagues are proud to be part of Goshen Health System.

Job Satisfaction
Colleagues at Goshen Health System are not only satisfied with their jobs, echoed by being named the number one workplace in the nation for Overall Job Satisfaction, but as a result, provide superior patient care. According to HR Solutions International, Inc., Goshen is also the leading healthcare organization in Concern for Patient Care, as well as Productivity/Efficiency and Promotions/Career Advancement.

Best Places to Work in Indiana
For the fourth consecutive year, Goshen Health System has been recognized as one of the Best Places to Work in Indiana by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. Teamwork and communication — with Colleagues empowered to propose and implement change — are key to Goshen’s culture of excellence. By creating an environment that provides leading-edge technology, the latest clinical studies and innovative thinking, our Colleagues are able to make real differences in the lives of those they treat.

Goshen’s distinction as a two-year finalist in Fortune Magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work For,” which inspired the creation of Indiana’s Best Places to Work, also speaks of our unmatched Colleague satisfaction.

Magnet™ Designation for Excellence in Nursing
Goshen General Hospital has held national Magnet Status from the American Nurses Credentialing Center since 2004 and continues to be the only such hospital in the region. As nursing’s highest honor, Magnet Status has been achieved by less than 6 percent of all healthcare organizations in the nation. And with our recent Magnet re-designation, Goshen is now among an elite group of only 2 percent of hospitals in the nation.

Regardless of a health organization’s size, setting or location, achieving Magnet designation serves to attract and retain quality Colleagues and represents a proven level of excellence in nursing care.

HOPE Award for Integrated Cancer Care
Goshen Center for Cancer Care goes above and beyond traditional teamwork in order to heal the entire person. Physically, emotionally and spiritually. Our holistic, fully integrated care model recently received national recognition as a HOPE award winner by Hematology & Oncology News & Issues magazine. The national publication named Goshen Center for Cancer Care as “the best example of Integration of Care among entries in medium-sized community-based oncology practices.”

The HOPE Award was created by the magazine to encourage the development of best practice standards of excellence in community-based cancer centers. Colleagues at Goshen Center for Cancer Care are doing just that, breaking new ground by proactively blending advanced treatments from all disciplines with complementary medicine and supportive services to treat the whole person, maximizing treatment effects and minimizing side effects. Goshen Center for Cancer Care continues to be the only cancer program in Indiana that offers treatment options from naturopathic physicians, including a Colleague honored as Naturopathic Physician of the Year by the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians.

Commission on Cancer Outstanding Achievement Award
Goshen Center for Cancer Care has been awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award by the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer (CoC). Only seven percent of approved cancer programs in the United States earn this distinction. This national recognition denotes Goshen Center for Cancer Care as providing the best in cancer diagnosis and treatment, the full integration of multiple disciplines and a lifelong program of follow-up care. Goshen Center for Cancer Care not only received approval with commendations in all areas in 2005, but did so in the first five years of its program.

Goshen Center for Cancer Care is a leader in innovative cancer treatment, being the only fully integrated cancer center in the region. Their multidisciplinary team includes world-leading specialists, Magnet designated nurses and support Colleagues that promise to do everything possible to heal every aspect of each person.

Summit Award for Patient Satisfaction
Goshen Health System is committed to providing patient care that not only meets, but also exceeds customer expectations, reflected by our high customer satisfaction ratings. For the fourth year in a row, The Retreat Women’s Health Center was named by Press Ganey Associates as a Summit Award winner, which recognizes healthcare facilities that sustain the highest level of customer satisfaction for three or more consecutive years. The Retreat is one of only 14 outpatient facilities in the nation - and the only facility in Indiana - to receive this prestigious honor in 2009. The center has maintained a 98-99 percent satisfaction rating since its opening in 2003.

Goshen Center for Cancer Care also consistently scores in the top 5 percent in the nation for customer satisfaction. Cancer center Colleagues have been asked on numerous occasions to share “best practices” with other organizations.
